Sporthorse Testing Center: Blood Testing

All blood tests are for local Aiken customers. Customers must collect their own samples. 

Blood tests may be done for reasons including illness, monitoring response to treatment and general health or fitness checks. 

CBC/Chem tests are required for all Adventure programs before distribution and after Adventure completion.

CBC/Chem/ACTH tests are included for all Equine Total Care participants.

• Equine Metabolic Panel (ACTH, Insulin, Glucose, Leptin)* - Red & Purple Top Tubes

When conducting Insulin or Equine Metabolic Panel tests, the horse must be fasted for 8–10 hours before the blood draw to ensure accurate results. During this time, horses should not have access to hay, grain, treats, or pasture, but fresh water may remain available. All other blood tests do not require fasting.

Testing Center is open M-Th 8a-3pm and Fridays until 12pm. Please be sure all samples are dropped off during the correct timeframe. Turnaround for most tests is 24-48hrs.*

*Thyroid Panel & Equine Metabolic Panel tests are shipped out and can only be accepted M-Th before 3pm. Turnaround time for Thyroid Panel is 2-5 business days. Turnaround time for Equine Metabolic Panel is 2-3 business days.  

Rushed or Emergency tests should be taken directly to your veterinarian.
